What is the software « An Drouizig Difazier » ?

An Drouizig Difazier is a spell-checker for the Breton language. Its aim is to give you assistance to fix your spelling mistakes while typing text in Breton on your computer.

An Drouizig Difazier works under Microsoft Windows (95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP) and is especially designed to work along with all the Microsoft Office programs as well as with all the other standard software from Microsoft.

An Drouizig Difazier benefits from all the numerous features brought by the Microsoft programs : first it benefits obviously from what they are mainly designed for, designing multimedia publications for Microsoft Publisher, for instance, but these programs can also bring more valuable features, like :

• Selection of the language for any part of the text.
• Initialisation and handling of the spell-checker engine.
• Handling of the spell-checker settings box.
• Handling of user dictionaries settings.
• Handling of the box which manages substitution of the words.

Hardware required and software compatibility.

A hardware configuration with at less 32Mb of RAM memory is required for an optimal use of An Drouizig Difazier.

The following software has been tested with 100% success :

• Microsoft Word 2000, 2002 (XP), Outlook 2000, 2002 (XP), Excel 2002 (XP), PowerPoint 2002 (XP), Access 2002 (XP), French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, (at less) versions.

The following software is compatible but you might be obliged to select a different " LCID " that Breton (cf. FAQ for further details on this point) :

• Microsoft Word 6, 95, 97, Microsoft Excel 97, 2000.
• Microsoft PowerPoint 95, 97, 2000, 
• Microsoft Outlook Express 5.0, 6.0.
• Microsoft Project 98, , Microsoft Access 97.
• Microsoft Publisher 2000, Microsoft FrontPage 2002 (XP).

In a more general way An Drouizig Difazier will be unusable if you do not own a Microsoft client software which handles the spell-checking feature. This software is not compatible with Netscape Communicator or Word Perfect, because these products are not actually distributed by Microsoft, but it is also incompatible with Microsoft WordPad which has not the spell-checking capability.

How does « An Drouizig Difazier » work?

An Drouizig Difazier implements the CSAPI 1.0 interface (Common Speller Application Programming Interface) in order to work along with the programs listed above.

This interface is restricted by Microsoft. It can be used freely to design specific dictionaries and spell-checkers but it can not be used to add the spell-checking capability to your own application without a written authorization or contract from Microsoft cf. picture 1.
